This trip to Tunis and Sfax in Tunisia serves me as a reminder of why it is important to travel. We can assume so much about a country, a city, people. Some things might be true. Other assumptions couldn't be further from the truth. You won't know unless you go.
In Tunisia you will see endless vistas of olive orchards. You'll be served sweet citruses for dessert after your meal. You'll be endlessly badgered to purchase artisan rugs. You'll mistake the main boulevard in Tunis for one in Paris. You'll be promptly told to put your camera away if attempting to photograph police. And, perhaps most importantly, you'll be warmly received and welcomed by many locals.
